Valuable Collectible Antique Glass Comes In All Shapes, sizes And Colors

Occasionally you hear stories about a person who bought a small glass jar at a garage sale for a nickel, took it home, cleaned it up and found someone to buy it for hundreds of dollars. While that is not an everyday occurrence, it does happen when you stumble onto a piece of collectible antique glass.

To know collectible antique glass you must understand how glass was made in the days from which your collectors clamor. Blown glass was made by molten glass placed on the end of a glass tube and blown up like you blow up a balloon. As it was being blown, it was shaped by various tools and when complete it was allowed to cool.

During the making of collectible antique glass bottles, a handle may be applied by pressing the molten glass shaped like the handle onto the jar once it started to cool. Occasionally this process resulted in a crack in the bottle, which does little to detract from the current value of a collectible antique glass.

Some Defects Aid in an Aging Piece

During the fashioning of blown glass, a tool called a pontil rod was used to hold the glass while it was fashioned into the desired shape. In the end it was simply snapped off and may be polished clear, but the evidence of the pontil mark should still be visible and gives a general idea of age and value of collectible antique glass.

In later years glass s were made of molded glass and many of those were counterfeits of original blown glass. To find modern molded glass masquerading as collectible antique glass there are a couple things to look for like the wear factor. Look at the bottom of the piece first to see if you can find the pontil rod scar and then look for wear marks. If there are marks where there shouldnt be, its probably a fake.

Another hint is small irregularities in the top of the piece, indicating spill over as if too much molten glass had been poured into the mold. This would be a sign of shoddy workmanship, as would too many bubbles in the glass. Although, even in quality blown glass a few bubbles may appear, but in the cheaper reproductions it wont take long to find them.

Perhaps your first step in buying collectible antique glass should be the purchase of a collectible antique glass magazine or book. It will usually identify the collection trends and help lead you on the right collectible path.

Vincent Van Gogh

The Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh has produced some of the worlds most popular, most beloved and most expensive paintings. Despite his great success, he was also known as a tortured, lonely artist who many felt was mad or at least on the verge of insanity. It is a testament to his immense talent that today, a century after he has died, the world still remembers Vincent Van Gogh.

Of course, we have to acknowledge the fact that not everyone who remembers Van Gogh does so entirely because of his art. People also remember Van Gogh because of the story that has been immortalized in songs about how he cut off his ear and committed suicide because his genius was not recognized during his time. But the history books reveal that this may not exactly be the case. While it is true that Van Gogh had bouts of madness, it is also true that he his work was greatly praised by his fellow artists and radical art critics just before his death. It seems that the story has intertwined both myth and reality.

As an artist, Van Gogh was actually a late bloomer and he only spent about 10 years on his craft. Before becoming an artist, he was primarily an art dealer and a teacher in England as well as a preacher in Holland. At the outset, most of his work consisted of somber colors until he was influenced by Impressionism in Paris and his style quickly developed. In his 10 years as a painter, Van Gogh produced around 900 paintings and 1100 drawings. His most famous works were actually created during the last two years of his life. Records show that he was prolific during the last two months of his life, producing 90 paintings during that time.

Contrary to popular belief, Van Gogh did not become an overnight sensation immediately following his death. In fact, his post-mortem fame was gradual, but was spurred tirelessly by his widowed sister-in-law who was devoted to promoting his artworks. Eventually, memorial exhibitions were mounted in Van Goghs honor in Brussels, Paris, The Hague and Antwerp. This was soon followed by hugely successful retrospectives in Paris (1901 and 1905), Amsterdam (1905), Cologne (1912), New York City (1913) and Berlin (1914).

How To Play PSP Download Games

Like many others who had purchased original PSP games from the retail outlets, you will realize that as the games is completed, buying new games seem to be getting expensive and unaffordable. What else can I do if I want to continue to play new or old fashioned games on my PSP console? I start search and looking for website that offers free PSP download games.

Once I had downloaded the PSP games onto my console, how to play PSP download games was my next question. I'm not sure exactly how PSP works when I download new PSP games onto the unit, but I sure have found some answers while I was looking for it. Since I'm facing and struggling with this problem on how to play PSP download games on my unit, lots of other people must be also getting the same problem.

Hope that I get this right for everyone to play PSP download games because I used the same method here to play on my console. Before we get started, I'm using a PSP unit with firmware of 1.5 and having a Sony PSP

compatible memory stick pro duo.

Since you are going to download the PSP games, you must download the games for the correct version of firmware, if not it will not work. Newer version of the firmware is available to anyone from the PSP official website. Most homebrew PSP games works with firmware 1.5 and below because the newer firmware upgrade is trying to block people from using homebrew games. Make sure the games you are downloading ends with PSP because only PSP files are compatible with Sony PSP unit.

And for firmware upgrade at anytime, you may need to download a newer version of the games to be compatible with the firmware. Otherwise error messages like "The data is corrupted" or "The game would not be started" will display on your PSP screen.

Once the PSP games are downloaded, connect the PSP to your computer by using the USB cable that comes with the PSP console. Change your PSP console into PSP mode by pressing the "Home" button. Next scroll left to the "Setting" column and scroll down until "USB Connection". Press "X" button to enter PSP into USB mode.

To download the PSP games into your console, the games must be copied and downloaded onto the correct folder in order for the games to work. And the correct path is PSP > GAME in order for the any PSP games to work correctly. If the "PSP" and "GAME" folder does not exist on your PSP memory stick, you need to manually create the folder with folder name in ALL CAPS.

Once you have finished downloading or transferring the games onto the PSP memory stick, you can disconnect your PSP from the computer. From the PSP console main menu, scroll over to the "GAME" column on your Sony PSP and continue to scroll down on the memory stick. Press "X" and a list of game files will be displayed. Scroll downward and you will be able to see the games you have just installed.

Press "X" again to confirm your selection and play the PSP games. I had tried to practice the steps above many times in my PSP and it worked all the time. Hopefully it will also work for your console too.

Flamboyant Rock Band Frontmen - Part 1

One of the greatest yet most realistic clichs of the proverbial rock band would be the colourful and extroverted singer. Often the livewire of the band, the frontman screams and shouts, swinging his microphone as the struts on stage as the other members of the band stand motionless in the shadows behind him.

The band, the stage, the arena, the crowd - they all obey the frontman; this is his kingdom, and he calls the shots as he sees fit.

Frontmen also help establish the stage presence and overall aura of a band; and it would be disastrous for a band to have a talented vocalist who lacks the people skills required to lead the band into a rock show night in and night out. Its their duty to not only carry out a shining vocal performance for the bands songs, but to also be the middleman between the crowd and the band, bridging the gap between mortal men and rock superstars.

Lets take a look at some of the greatest livewire singers rock music has ever seen.

1) Robert Plant

Fabulously fashionable with equally fabulous looks and vocal proficiency, Plant was probably rocks greatest frontman. He made his fame and fortune with British rock legends Led Zeppelin, and played a vital role in helping the band sell their 300 million albums worldwide.

Robert Plant, alongside guitarist Jimmy Page, were the dynamic duo of the band; and with their flare jeans and chest-baring shirts they captured the hearts and minds of millions over the world. Their chemistry on stage, coupled with the raw energy from the rhythm section of John Paul Jones and John Bonham, cemented Led Zeppelins place in the annals of rock history.

Plants admirable vocal prowess allowed him to add another dimension of mystique and charm to the bands emotionally-charged tunes, and his trademark stage presence and energy was unparalleled at the time. He can be heard doing what he does best on such Led Zeppelin hits like Stairway To Heaven, Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog.

The tragic death of their drummer John Bonham marked the heartbreaking end of their touring years but Plant will always be remembered as the voice and face of Led Zeppelin.

2) Axl Rose

With Axl Rose, its a love or hate affair. He was the original vocalist of Guns N Roses and only remaining original member left in the new lineup touring today.

Rose shot to fame (pun intended) during the illustrious years of the band in the early 90s - especially after the release of their landmark album Appetite For Destruction - and helped bring immense commercial success to the band with his soulful and energetic singing in songs like Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise City and Sweet Child OMine.

It was not all fine and dandy for Rose, though. His temperamental attitude got him and the rest of the band in hot soup in trouble several times, and was probably the reason why all the other members of the band started quitting Guns N Roses one by one.

Rose has landed the band in hot soup numerous times, but one infamous incident involving a fan who was videotaping a Guns show allowed the world to see Rose rear his ugliest head yet. He was also criticized by gay rights activists, who accused Rose of being disseminating anti-gay propaganda.

Fans of the band will never forgive Rose for not allowing the name of their beloved band to rest in peace after having created a preposterous Guns N Roses alternate with a forgettable lineup. Not only that, Rose is entirely responsible for the bands most expensive album never released, entitled Chinese Democracy - which has swallowed over $13 million in production costs over the course of several years, and with no release date in sight. To make matters worse, Rose has said many times previously that the album will be out soon - but with most of the fairly-forgettable material readily available on the internet its no surprise that the album will not revive the bands seemingly futile existence.

Even though Rose allowed his personal turbulences get the better of him, he will be remembered as one of the most unique rock n roll voices of the 90s.
